Amabel Lee
Amabel Lee is a folk ballad drawn from a real encounter — a meeting that felt somewhere between fate and chance.
Written after a surprise visit from a real muse named Amabel Lee at Brendan Forrest’s remote Colorado homestead, the song captures the spark of human connection after a long stretch of solitude. Featuring Grammy-winner Michael Cleveland and Dominick Leslie, the track blends intimate storytelling with the energy and precision of bluegrass-rooted musicianship.
Rooted in place, memory, and lived experience, “Amabel Lee” is both a love song and a reflection on how certain people seem to arrive exactly when they’re meant to. In a fitting twist, Forrest later learned that Amabel is part of a generational namesake — turning the song into an homage not only to one person, but to a lineage of women who carry the name forward.
